Entry Requirements
At the Meridian Institute of Nursing and Health Professionals (MINHP), we are committed to training the next generation of skilled and compassionate healthcare professionals. Our entry requirements are designed to ensure that all applicants have the foundational skills and dedication needed to succeed in their chosen field. Whether you’re applying for our Nursing or Midwifery programs, we are here to guide you through the admission process and help you start your journey toward a fulfilling career in healthcare.
General Entry Requirements
To apply for any program at MINHP, applicants must meet the following general criteria:
Academic Qualifications
Applicants should have successfully completed the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 passes, including English and Science subjects.Applicants must also have completed the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or equivalent, with at least 1 principal pass and 2 subsidiary passes in relevant subjects, preferably in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.Minimum Age
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of admission.Language Proficiency
Proficiency in English is required, as all programs are conducted in English. Applicants from non-English-speaking countries may be required to provide proof of English proficiency through standardized tests such as TOEFL or IELTS.Medical Fitness
All applicants are required to undergo a medical examination and submit a certificate of medical fitness to ensure they are physically and mentally prepared for the demands of healthcare training.
Program-Specific Requirements
Certificate in Nursing (CN)
- Applicants to the Certificate in Nursing program must have a strong background in Science subjects, particularly Biology.
- Practical experience in a healthcare setting is an added advantage but not mandatory.
Certificate in Midwifery (CM)
- Applicants to the Certificate in Midwifery program should demonstrate an interest in maternal and newborn care, with a solid foundation in Science subjects.
- Prior volunteer or work experience in a healthcare or community health setting is advantageous.

Ensure you include certified copies of academic certificates, transcripts, proof of age, medical fitness certificate, and any other supporting documents requested.Pay the Application Fee
A non-refundable application fee is required to process your application. Details of the fee and payment methods are provided in the application form.Attend Interview/Entrance Examination (If Applicable)
If shortlisted, you will be notified of the date and time for the interview or entrance examination.Receive Admission Decision
Admission decisions will be communicated via email or phone within a specified period after the application deadline.
